The Tamagotchi Connection V5, commonly referred to as the Familitchi, was the first Tamagotchi to feature raising a family. While previous editions featured two Tamagotchis making an egg, this is the first one to allow you to raise more than one generation at the same time. This version of the Tamagotchi Connection is very easy to identify. The original Tamagotchi was first introduced in Japan in 1996 and was a huge craze. It wasn't long before Bandai introduced it to Europe and North America where the craze grew further. By late 1998 and 1999, the fad has began to die out. Tamagotchi products became rarer to find until production was stopped. The Tamagotchi v5 was the first connection toy to have more than 1 character being raised at once. This version is more family-centered, hence the slogan, 'We Are Familitchi!' Most of the characters in the Tamagotchi! Anime originated from the v5. The v5 can only connect to v5s, v5.5s, Music Stars, and Tama-Gos.
