Mark I Target Model

Success of Ruger Standard Model, led quite naturally to a demand for a more accurate target model. In 1951, a pistol that utilized the same frame and receiver with a 6.875' target-type barrel and adjustable sights was introduced. Early target models number 15000 to 16999 and 25000 to 25300 have Red Eagle grips. In 1952, a 5.25' tapered barrel model was introduced, but was soon discontinued. In 1963, popular 5.5' bull barrel model was introduced. These models enjoyed well deserved success. Manufactured from 1951-1982.
