Kaththi is a story about a social activist Jeevanandham who is shot by unknown people since he fights against an MNC company to restore farming. His look-alike Kathiresan a criminal disguises as Jeeva and fights for the cause. The screenplay was written by AR. Murugadoss. The film was produced by K. Karunamoorthi and A. Subashkaran and directed by AR Murugadoss. This 2014 action film stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Sathish. Clear cut editing by A. Sreekar Prasad and adept cinematography by George C. Williams makes it a watchable movie. It was released on 22 October 2014 and was distributed by Ayngaran International and Eros International. The music was composed by Anirudh. The Film collected ₹130 crores at the box office. The Censor Board has categorized the movie under U certification and occupies a screen time of 161 minutes. The coin fight scene shown in the film has been banned in Malaysia due to the violence involved in the scene.

The movie's story was very interesting; I did enjoy it but not as well as I could have. For one, all the songs lacked English subtitles. The songs are apart of the movie's stories in Indian Cinema, without them you miss a good part of the story. There were other gaps with the English subtitling in the movie.
